About

I’ve spent the last 15 years helping people, productions, and companies tell their stories with images, light, and sound. I love cinematography’s power to express emotion using science and technology, but more than anything I’m moved by making cool things with cool people. I love solving problems, and my high-level skillset across a broad range of disciplines makes me a valuable asset no matter the scale, resources, or needs of a project.

My path to filmmaking wasn’t a direct one. I started young as a 13-year-old working musician, spending my (non-school) nights in a sequin tuxedo jacket, playing the trumpet in ballrooms and country clubs across Palm Springs, CA. While studying film scoring and jazz performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, I discovered a love for audio engineering and record producing. 40+ independent albums as an engineer and producer later, I found myself burning out and moved back to California, where I helped co-found and attain grant funding for a 24-seat computer lab and pilot audio production program at a public high school.

When we were preparing to take a student group on an international tour, I realized that nobody was planning on documenting the trip with photos or video. I had always dabbled with photography as a hobby, so I used this as an excuse to buy a miniDV camcorder and an inexpensive DSLR. Before I knew it I was sitting on 60-hours of footage and a pile of video equipment, and ultimately a feature-length documentary. I was hooked on the power of images and the process of capturing them, and reinvigorated by a medium that combined what I loved about music and audio with a host of fresh creative challenges. I packed my bags and moved to Los Angeles and haven’t looked back since.

I’ve shot a dozen feature films, hundreds of commercials, branded spots, documentaries, shorts, industrials, music videos, concerts, and live events. I’m calm under pressure, work well in a team-based environment, and bring a wealth of experience and expertise to every project and production I’m a part of. I truly love what I do, and that joy is evident in my work and the energy I bring to every collaboration. Let’s make something cool together!
